We also collect basic usage data via cookies/analytics (e.g., pages viewed, device type).

Sharing.
We share data only with service providers (e.g., Wix, payment processors, email/CRM tools, printers/fulfillment) to operate the site and fulfill orders. We do not sell your personal data.

Overview.
These Terms govern your use of BuiltFromCrisis.com and participation in the Built From Crisis™ anthology.
By using the site or applying to contribute, you agree to these Terms.
​
Submissions & Originality.
Contributors warrant that submissions are original, human-written (AI may be used only for light proofreading such as spelling/grammar), and respect privacy and permissions. Change names/identifiers unless you have written consent.
​
License (non-exclusive).
Contributors retain copyright to their individual stories. Contributors grant Maldon Language Interpreters, LLC dba The Maldon Brand a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, and sell the submitted work within the anthology (including reprints/editions) in print and digital formats, and to use the contributor’s name, bio, and provided headshot in connection with the anthology and its promotion.

Editorial.
We provide professional editing for clarity, length, and style. One revision may be requested. Final acceptance and placement are at the editor’s discretion.

Fees & Preorders.
If accepted, contributors agree to:

Inclusion fee: $50 Early Bird (first 10 accepted) or $100 Standard thereafter; and
-
Preorder: 50 paperback copies at the contributor price (at least, $14.50 each).
Printing is queued after fees and preorder payment are received.
No royalties.
In lieu of royalties, contributors receive contributor pricing and promotional features per the guidelines.

Site use & IP.
Built From Crisis™ content, branding, and site materials are owned by Shawn Maldon & Maldon Language Interpreters, LLC dba The Maldon Brand unless otherwise noted. Do not copy, scrape, or misuse the site.

Disclaimers.
Content is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties and are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
​
Governing law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Venue and jurisdiction lie in Maryland courts.

Refund Policy
​
Inclusion fee.
Refundable only if we withdraw acceptance before editing begins; otherwise non-refundable (it funds editing/project operations).
​
Contributor preorders (author copies).
Refundable until printing is queued. After printing is queued, preorders are non-refundable.
​
Retail orders (Amazon).
Retail purchases are subject to Amazon’s return policy.
​
Damaged/defective.
Report issues within 7 days of delivery with photos to Maldon@ShawnMaldon.com; we will replace or refund defective copies.
​
Event tickets/services (if applicable).
Refunds up to 7 days before the event; otherwise credit toward a future event at our discretion.
​
How to request.
Email Maldon@ShawnMaldon.com with order details and reason.

Pricing note.
Amazon retail is set by the Publisher; contributor copies may be resold offline. Please do not list contributor copies on Amazon or advertise below the Amazon retail (MSRP $25.99)

Shipping Policy
​
​
Production & timelines.
Contributor copies are printed on demand. Typical production time is 5–10 business days plus shipping 5–10 business days within the U.S. International shipping varies.
​
Tracking.
We provide tracking when available.
​
Addresses.
Ensure accurate shipping information; reship fees may apply for incorrect addresses.
​
Damaged/defective.
Notify Maldon@ShawnMaldon.com within 7 days with photos; we’ll replace or refund affected copies.
​
Retail orders.
Amazon fulfills retail orders; shipping timelines and returns follow Amazon policies.
​
Pricing & Resale (Marketplace Restrictions).
Contributor copies are for offline resale or gifting only. Contributors agree not to list contributor copies on Amazon or any other online marketplace, and not to publicly advertise prices below the Amazon retail listing (MSRP $25.99). Violations may result in removal from the anthology program and cancellation of future orders. If a listing appears online, Contributor must remove it within 5 days of notice.
